Sunshine turns 43 years old this fall, which is 101 in human terms (there is a formula for this. Let me know if you want it!)—but that doesn’t mean she’s slowing down.

In fact, she’s going harder on the backroads than ever before, and I attribute that to the fact that we go out of the way to treat her right.

That means adjusting the valves frequently, changing the oil often, and making sure her fuel system runs in tip-top shape.

Idle Theory Bus

Since 2012, Kit and J.R. have lived in their Orange Volkswagen van, who they practically treat like their 43-year-old child. Sunshine has taken them all over the country, through the red rock deserts of Utah to the lush greenery of the northwest. Sunshine is a prominent character in their story, and they are always talking about the ways they care for her to make sure she can take them through many more adventures.
